Venice Film Festival 2008
The 65th International Exhibition of Cinematic Art will be held from August 27th to September 6th 2007 at its customary location at the Lido di Venezia.
Following the traditional Film Festival organization, the official selection includes 60 films divided in three main sections: The films competing for the Leone d'Oro will be presented in the Venezia 65 section; some of the year's most important works will be presented by Fuori Concorso, for a maximum of 6 films while the Orizzonti section will document the new cinema trends. The international short film contest, Corto Cortissimo, was also confirmed.
In order to participate, all films must internationally debut in Venice or, in any case, must be films that have not yet been shown outside the country of origin.
The 65th edition will open with the film Burn After Reading starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.
